Handling in a (heavily) laden vehicle

VB-Airsuspension has been supplying (air) suspension systems for different applications – such as emergency services vehicles (including ambulances), motorhomes and wheelchair-accessible vehicles – for more than 30 years now. All these vehicles are fundamentally modified commercial vehicles, and their suspension has been designed with this in mind. A vehicle with a superstructure or one that has been converted to a specific application will often be carrying extra weight. The original suspension system is not adapted for this, which means the vehicle may not handle well. VB-Airsuspension offers a number of solutions for this problem.

The added superstructure or conversion and/or heavy loads may cause the vehicle to sag, reducing the spring travel. So, when you drive over a speed bump or an uneven road surface, the shortened spring travel may cause the suspension to hit the bump stop, resulting in an uncomfortable ride.

If you do not need to lower your vehicle at the rear and have no need of features like VB-AutoLevel or the off-road function, then our auxiliary air suspension systems (VB-SemiAir – VB-LevelAir) and our helper and reinforced springs (VB-CoilSpring) are a good solution. These systems can also be combined for many models.

VB-SemiAir
VB-SemiAir allows you to adjust your suspension (manually) within certain limits. An air spring is fitted between the chassis and the rear axle that supports the leaf spring of the vehicle. VB-SemiAir is also supplied as a two-chamber system. This means that the air springs are independent of one another. Using a two-chamber system allows left and right to be adjusted separately, enabling the vehicle to be levelled – to some extent – even when it is loaded unevenly. VB-CoilSpring
Our helper and reinforced springs – the VB-CoilSpring – support or reinforce the existing suspension system in order to correct a suspension problem. Reinforced springs will normally ensure that the vehicle returns to its original (or a higher ride height), which increases spring travel and thus improves stability and, to some extent, comfort levels. Combining the two systems on your vehicle gives you even more spring travel improving the handling, stability and, to some extent, comfort levels.
