The team from ItalTrans will be taking part in the Dakar once again this year.
The ItalTrans Ginaf X2222 with its team of Claudio Bellina, Paolo Arici and Giulio Minelli were there on the starting line of the world's toughest rally in 2012 too. On that occasion, however, the adventure was brought to an abrupt halt after just a few days, with a crash bringing ItalTrans' hopes of a place on the finish line to a sudden end.
This year the team's prospects are looking brighter. Following a successful test drive in October together with the GINAF Service Team at the “Maroc Rally” in Morocco, Claudio and his team are ready for anything the rally can throw at them.
The greatest adventure in the world of motor sport will get under way in Lima, the capital of Peru, on 5 January. The impressive convoy of vehicles will then make their way through the dunes and mountains of Peru, the desert and mountain passes of Argentina and Chile's Atacama desert, before taking the coastal route and heading for the finish line in Santiago (Chile).
The race once again promises to be extremely tough and demanding on both the trucks and team members, who are busy preparing themselves for the biggest challenge they have faced to date. Over the course of more than 8,000 kilometres, the two-week rally will test the drivers' vehicles - and resolve - to the limit.
VB-Airsuspension has been working on the existing air suspension system on ItalTrans' Ginaf X2222 in preparation for the conditions it will face during the Dakar.
